1. Generation Study Abroad Scholarship

Provider: CEA with Institute of International Education’s Generation Study Abroad

Amount: up to $750

Submit: Essay (400 to 500 words)

College students may apply. The CEA (Cultural Experiences Abroad) partnered with the Institute of International Education’s Generation Study Abroad to create an initiative to double the number of U.S. college students studying abroad.

2. EESA Scholarship

Provider: Eastern European Study Abroad (EESA)

Amount: up to $3,500

Submit: Essay (two pages)

College students may apply. The EESA believes studying abroad is the most beneficial time of a student’s life, and so this scholarship was created to make the opportunity more affordable.

3. Spanish Studies Abroad’s Merit-based Scholarships

Provider: Spanish Studies Abroad

Amount: up to $1,000

Submit: Essay (400 to 500 words)

College students may apply. Spanish Studies Abroad hosts academic programs in Spain, Puerto Rico, Cuba and Argentina. The scholarship supports students with a passion for Spanish language. Special preference is given to applicants who can demonstrate the desire to study Spanish in and out of the classroom.

4. Institute for Study Abroad’s Scholarship

Provider: Institute for Study Abroad (IFSA)

Amount: up to $2,500

Submit: Essay (125 words)

College students may apply. Areas of study range from business to visual and performing arts. The IFSA is working for study abroad to be within reach of every student. The applicant’s financial need is considered.

5. Sol Education’s Scholarship

Provider: Sol Education

Amount: up to $750

Submit: Online Application

College students may apply. Sol Education supports passionate Spanish learners that have a desire to learn and explore other cultures. Winners are expected to keep a blog during the experience!

6. CISaboard First- Generation Student Scholarship

Provider: CISaboard

Amount: $500

Submit: Online Application

First-generation college students may apply. Since many of the staff members at CISabroad are also first-generation college students, this scholarship was specially made to support similar students. Winners are expected to update their experience as a photo gallery through a travel vlog, blog, or an Instagram takeover. Check the scholarship page to view their list of scholarships.

7. Adelyn Dougherty Leander Need-Based Urban Issues Scholarship

Provider: Institute of the International Education of Students (IES Abroad)

Amount: up to $3,000

Submit: Online Application

College students may apply. This scholarship supports study abroad programming for students interested in urban studies. Winners are expected to write a one page statement about the experience. Check the official site for more scholarship opportunities.

8. FEA-CAPA Access Scholarship

Provider: CAPA with Fund for Education Abroad (FEA)

Amount: up to $5,000

Submit: Online Application

College students may apply. This scholarship supports minority students and first-generation students participating in study abroad programs. Each applicant’s financial need is considered.

9. Marie McKay Global Citizen Scholarship

Provider: Athena Study Abroad

Amount: $1,000

Submit: Essay (500 words)

College students may apply. Athena Study Abroad asks applicant’s to describe their interest and experience in social justice and service programs. Applicants should demonstrate an initiative to give back to society, an awareness of global community, and the intent to use study abroad experience in future endeavors.
