While many scholarships have deadlines in the Fall/Winter, there are still many opportunities to apply for (and win!) scholarship awards over the summer.

In addition to financial aid, scholarships help you reduce the overall amount you need to pay for college (or how much you need to borrow in expensive student loans).

Here are 16 summer scholarships to apply for in 2020.

The winnings: $1000, 2 awards.

Due on: June 30

What it is: Supports students with documented learning disabilities.

2. Beauty & Wellness Scholarship for Women 

The winnings: $500-$1000, 2 awards.

Due on: June 30

What it is: Essay contest on why the female applicant is committed to a healthy lifestyle, how they maintain physical and mental wellness, and whether it’s been difficult to make healthy choices

3. Korean American Scholarship 

The winnings: $500-$5000, multiple awards.

Due on: June 30

What it is: Awards Korean-American students who have academic/personal achievement and are engaged in community/civic service.

4. ABC Wildlife Scholarship for Women in STEM 

The winnings: $1000, 1 award.

Due on: July 1

What it is: For female students intending to study science, technology, engineering, or math. Open to non-citizens as well. 

5. Solar Scholarship 

The winnings: $1000, multiple awards.

Due on: July 1

What it is: Essay contest (500-1000 words) on what excites you most about the future of solar. Open to students with GPAs of 3.2+. 

6. Thomas J. Henry Leadership Scholarship 

The winnings: $1000, 1 award.

Due on: July 1

What it is: To support a student who demonstrates the importance of leadership. Applicants must write 750-1000 words on their leadership role experience. 

7. Course Hero Super Senior Scholarship

The winnings: $5000, 1 award.

Due on: July 3

What it is: Essay contest on some timely themes: What makes something true/fact? Do you think that people are susceptible to persuasion? If so, what makes them susceptible? 

8. Keller Law Offices Academic Scholarship 

The winnings: $1000, 1 award.

Due on: July 15

What it is: Essay contest on how someone got falsely accused of a crime (can be real or fictional). Applicant must publish it on a personal blog. 

9. Cogan & Power Academic Scholarship 

The winnings: $2000, 1 award.

Due on: July 15

What it is: Essay contest on jobs you worked, the safety risks associated with them, and how your employers could have made them safer. Applicant must publish it on a personal blog. 

10. Dolphin Galleries Scholarship for the Visual & Creative Arts 

The winnings: $1000, 1 award.

Due on: July 20

What it is: Supports a student who plans to pursue an arts-related major or minor. 

11. Phylis J. McCarthy Scholarship for Excellence in Writing 

The winnings: $500-$1000, 3 awards.

Due on: July 23

What it is: Essay contest for HS juniors and seniors, of up to 3000 words. 

12. Nicholas Braswell Strong Roots Scholarship 

The winnings: $500, 

Due on: Aug 31

What it is: Essay contest (500 words) on how the meaning of “community” is changing and what that means for people who wish to build strong, healthy communities. 

13. Maple Holistics Natural Scholarship 

The winnings: $1000, 1 award.

Due on: Sept 1

What it is: Essay contest – Applicant must submit an original blog post on any topic related to natural health and personal care. Maple Holistics may publish the winning entry in their company blog. 

14. Environmental Awareness Scholarship 

The winnings: $1000, 2 awards.

Due on: Sept 1

What it is: Essay contest on how you think climate change will impact future generations.

15. GVD Renovations Scholarship 

The winnings: $1000, 1 award.

Due on: Sept 3

What it is: Essay contest on how home remodeling benefits American families and boosts real estate value.

16. Be the Boss Scholarship for Female Entrepreneurs

The winnings: $2000, 2 awards.

Due on: Sept 15

What it is: For a female student who wants to start her own online business. Financial need and academic performance are not important.
