If you’re on the hunt for the best college scholarships to help you pay your way through school – either part time or full time – look no further! This contest is open to all American high school students in their senior year, who are planning to attend college next year for an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree. There are no specific merit (GPA or College Board test score) or financial need requirements. Instead, this is an essay scholarship, so the scholarship money will be awarded based on students’ responses.
This scholarship essay should focus on your aspirations for the future. Dream big and answer with as much passion as possible! The essay prompt asks: “What are my academic and career goals, and how would this scholarship help me reach them?” We want to hear about your passions and dreams – and we want to help you achieve them!
Sometimes, the financial aid you get from the FAFSA® just doesn’t cut it. That’s why we’ve created a new scholarship just for students with unmet financial need. The $1000 scholarship awards can be used at any type of higher education—at any accredited community college, trade/vocational school, four-year undergraduate college, or graduate student program in the United States. It can even be used as a transfer scholarship too!
We want to ensure that most students are eligible, so there are ZERO additional eligibility requirements (no specific field of study, full-time enrollment, ethnicity, community service, nor GPA requirement). You can truly be any kind of student, studying anything, as long as you demonstrate that you need extra financial assistance, beyond what your school’s financial aid office could offer you.
College planning can be stressful – from completing long applications to acing tests, and even making friends in new places. So Going Merry wants to alleviate some pressure and equip qualified students to attend college without having to worry so much about the cost.
That’s why we’re awarding two students with merit-based scholarships to offset the cost of college tuition, and to minimize future federal student loan repayment obligations. Students with financial need and a minimum GPA of 3.0 are the ideal candidates for this scholarship program. Applicants will write an essay about their goals and how a degree will help achieve them.
Our selection committee wants to hear about the educational programs that excite you, the types of classes you’d like to take as a college freshman, and where you hope they’ll take you in the future. We’ll reward your enthusiasm and drive, so be sure to let us know how excited you are to take the next step of your academic career. Do you love working with non-profit organizations? Are you dreaming of creating a brighter future for your community? If so, this unique scholarship from Going Merry may just be perfect for you!
The award has few eligibility requirements – only that candidates must be graduating high school seniors or current college students with a love for community service. To apply, students will write an essay demonstrating their commitment to their community, discussing the ways in which they’ve given back, and, most importantly, detailing their plans to continue giving back in the future. We want to award your commitment to bettering the world around you, so one graduating high school student or college student will be given a $1,000 scholarship to pursue their education. The application process is easy (just one essay!), and the award is blind to financial need as well as GPA.
(Note that, unfortunately, like all the awards in the Going Merry scholarship database, this scholarship is NOT open to international students outside of the United States. You must be a U.S. resident to apply.)
Planning for your new adventure as a college or graduate student is full of excitement, but the scholarship search and application process can be a time-consuming drag. That’s why we’ve created our “Magically Duplicating Scholarship,” where you can apply to an initial $1,000 scholarship, as well as choose to have us “auto-apply” you to any additional No Essay scholarships we (or other trusted scholarship providers) run throughout the academic year. All you have to do is apply once! Then dream big, study hard, and let us help you pay for school.
From first-generation college students to graduate students, part-time to full-time students, this scholarship is open to anyone with plans for higher education.
So no need to stress about missing application deadlines for those easy, free scholarships! You focus on your academic endeavors, while we handle your applications for you.
As if the effort it takes to find scholarships isn’t enough, most college applications and scholarship competitions include a laundry list of daunting and tedious requirements. Going Merry’s Innovation Scholarship is different.
We invite students to create an application that shows off their individuality. From TikTok videos to SoundCloud tracks, this is your chance to get creative! Show off your flair for the arts, athletics, community service, and tell us why higher education is important to you. This should be an easy scholarship that’s also fun.
There’s no one-size-fits-all formula for winning this free college scholarship. We’ll reward $500 to 2 students with the most compelling applications, so have fun with it! Current students of all levels are welcome to apply, including high school students, current college students (pursuing a bachelor’s or associate’s degree), transfer students, and even students in graduate school. The only requirement for this education scholarship is that students must be in good academic standing.
This merit-based scholarship fund will award $500 each to 2 deserving full-time students who display both academic achievement and leadership in extracurricular activities. We’re looking for passion and depth rather than breadth: How have you really achieved within your specific area of interest or expertise? Have you held internships or fellowships in your desired field of work? Have you held leadership roles in your school clubs?
Showcase your achievements, experiences, and background in a short essay.
Also as part of the application process, we’ll ask you for your GPA, transcript, and 1-2 letters of recommendation. There’s no financial need requirement for this scholarship so students of all income levels should apply.

When it comes to paying for your college education, #1 most important thing you can do is fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®), the Department of Education’s application form to get federal financial aid awards. But we know that the government FAFSA® form can be confusing, especially for first-time college students.
So we’ve created a better, more user-friendly version: the FAFSA® Made Easier. It’s got simplified questions, better (and more!) help text to guide you, and the ability to skip forward and back (so you can fill out the form in the order that makes most sense for you).
But why is it important to fill out the FAFSA® anyway? Well, on average, eligible students receive $15,000 of student aid per academic year after completing the FAFSA– that can be $60,000 for four-year undergraduate students. This financial aid is usually a combination of “free money” (different types of scholarships and grants), money you work for (work-study), and (lower-interest) student loans to help offset the cost of attendance.
