Wonderful Wisconsin Scholarships for 2021

Wisconsin is home to several respected universities, including the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Marquette University, but the rising cost of tuition presents the same obstacle to education as it does in most other states.

1. The Joseph Cocking Memorial Hockey Scholarship

Amount: Varies

Provider: The Joseph Cocking Memorial Hockey Scholarship (Charity Smith)

Who Can Apply: High school or college students who play hockey and reside in one of several counties in Washington

Application Requirements: FAFSA, Recommendation letter, Resume, Transcript

The Joseph Cocking Memorial Hockey Scholarship Fund is a tribute to the memory of Joe Cocking. Distributions are awarded annually to child applicants seeking financial assistance in the youth hockey house league or high school hockey. As a general guideline, recipients have demonstrated leadership, sportsmanship, and a positive character.

2. Media Scholarship

Amount: Up to $1,000

Provider: Wisconsin Broadcasters Association Foundation

Who Can Apply: High School Seniors and College Freshmen through Juniors attending an eligible school in Wisconsin. Must have plans to enroll or be currently enrolled in a media-related program.

Application Requirements: Two letters of recommendation.

The Wisconsin Broadcasters Association Foundation is pleased to offer the Media Scholarship to assist students enrolled in media-related educational programs at Public or Private Colleges/Universities, Broadcast/Media Schools and Wisconsin Technical Colleges. Students who meet eligibility requirements are encouraged to apply for these scholarships.

3. Mitzi Dillworth Memorial Nursing Scholarship

Amount: Up to $500

Provider: West Allis Central High School

The West Allis-West Milwaukee School District develops inquiry-driven, independent learners through instruction that is personalized and engaging, with a focus on college/career readiness and 21st century skill development. The West Allis-West Milwaukee School District, in partnership with family and community, will help to further education through the Mitzi Dillworth Memorial Nursing Scholarship.

4. Wisconsin Academic Excellence Scholarship

The Wisconsin Academic Excellence Scholarship is granted to the high school senior with the highest GPA in each public and private school in the state (in other words, each high school gets one scholarship to give out!). Half of the scholarship is funded by the state and the other half is funded by the college or university that the student chooses to attend.

Amount: $2,250 renewable for up to 8 semesters

Provider: State of Wisconsin Higher Education Aids Board and student’s institution

Who Can Apply: Full-time high school seniors who plan to attend a qualifying Wisconsin college, and have demonstrable academic achievement.

5. Wisconsin Technical Excellence Scholarship (TES)

While scholarships in Wisconsin (and in many states) tend to focus on four-year colleges, technical career paths are an important and excellent option that is often overlooked. The Wisconsin Technical Excellence Scholarship is awarded to seniors who demonstrate excellence and achievement in technical subjects and plan to attend a school within the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS).

Amount: $2,250 renewed for six semesters ($13,500 in total)

Provider: State of Wisconsin Higher Education Aids Board

Who Can Apply: High School Seniors with plans to attend a qualifying Wisconsin technical college. Must have academic achievement in technical fields.

6. Roma Lodge Merit Scholarship

The Roma Lodge celebrates Italian culture and life in the USA for Italian-Americans. The Roma Lodge Merit Scholarship is available to high school seniors who are children of Roma Lodge members.

Amount: Up to $4,000

Provider: Roma Lodge

Who Can Apply: High School Seniors with high academic achievement, and who plan to attend a four-year college or university.

7. Association of Wisconsin Snowmobile Clubs Scholarship

The Association of Wisconsin Snowmobile Clubs Scholarship is available to members or dependents of members of the Association of Wisconsin Snowmobile Clubs. In order to qualify, graduating seniors should be actively involved in snowmobiling and successfully pass a snowmobile safety course.

Amount: $1,000 to $2,000

Provider: Association of Wisconsin Snowmobile Clubs

Who Can Apply: High School Seniors who are a member of dependent of a member of a Wisconsin Snowmobile Club. Must reside in Wisconsin.

Application Requirements: Transcript, Essay.

8. Great Lakes Hemophilia Foundation Scholarship

The Great Lakes Hemophilia Foundation Scholarship aims to lessen the burden of paying for college for students with bleeding disorders. In order to be eligible, students must be attending an accredited, not-for-profit college, university, or vocational/technical school in Wisconsin or be receiving treatment at a Wisconsin Hemophilia Treatment Center.

Amount: $250 to $3,000

Provider: Great Lakes Hemophilia Foundation

Who Can Apply: High School Seniors, or College Freshmen through Juniors.

Additional eligibility: (a) Must have a bleeding disorder or an immediate relative with a bleeding disorder, (b) Attending an accredited, not-for-profit school, (c) Residency in Wisconsin or currently receiving care at a Wisconsin Hemophilia Treatment Center.
